Electra Solar EOL Forecaster

When and where solar panels will retire, forecast for the utilities and funders who plan recycling capacity

Electra Solar EOL Forecaster modeling retired solar panel volumes
The problem

Solar panels retire in waves, and the recycling infrastructure to absorb them is being planned on rough guesses. Heather runs Electra, a solar panel recycling platform born in a Terra working group, and needed forecasts she could put in front of utilities and funders.

What got built

An end-of-life forecasting tool that models when and where panels will retire, built and demoed to the cohort in week two of Studio.

How it happened

Electra has won prizes and DOE and NASA funding since it started as an LFA working-group idea. Studio is where Heather added AI tooling to the operation; along the way she built a reusable style guide and shared it with the cohort.
