Module 1
The Architecture of Stories
The evidence for climate action has been overwhelming for decades. The data is not the bottleneck. What’s missing is the bridge between what experts know and what people feel strongly enough to act on. This module teaches you to build that bridge: the structural mechanics that turn evidence into something people internalize and remember.
What this module covers
Three myths
Good data speaks for itself. Audiences want solutions. Complexity signals credibility. All three are wrong, and each one produces communication that fails.
The Story Spine
A six-beat Pixar structure that forces a causal chain: Once upon a time, Every day, One day, Because of that (twice), Until finally. Causality is what separates a story from a timeline.
The bullet point test
Read your communication and insert "and then" or "because of that" between each point. Which one fits? If it's always "and then," you have a list, not a story.

Story Spine Builder
Apply the Pixar Story Spine to a real forest-monitoring case. Study the transformation from a fact list to a causal narrative, then build your own using satellite-based GLAD alerts data.
Policy Brief
The Bullet Point Test
Run the "and then" vs. "because of that" diagnostic on a Phoenix urban heat policy brief, then restructure it using the Story Spine. The facts stay identical. The structure is what changes.
