Tool Selector

Select your output type to see recommended tools, rationale for each, and ready-to-copy starter prompts. The selection principle from Module 4: match tool to task, not to novelty. The most impressive tool is the wrong choice if it doesn't serve your audience.

Each category has an exploration tool and a production tool. Knowing which phase you're in — exploration or execution — narrows the decision before you even open a browser tab.

Before you choose a tool

What format?

Email, brief, slide deck, social card, video, interactive — the format determines the category.

Who's the audience?

The output format that reaches a city council is different from the one that reaches a general public.

What are the stakes?

High-stakes, high-reach pieces warrant the interactive tools. Internal updates don't.

Explore or execute?

If the direction is open, use an exploration tool. If you know what you want, go straight to production.
